Asteroids, Comets and Transneptunian Objects

We have great news to share! Our proposal for a new commission to the IAU was accepted, and the new Commission F4 “Asteroids, Comets & Transneptunian Objects” is now open for members to join and will become active in Aug 2021 at the virtual triennium business meeting (please recall, the IAU General Assembly was delayed to Aug 2022 due to COVID).

The IAU Division F President, Gonzalo Tancredi, has put forward our proposal to form our Commission on “Asteroids, Comets, and Transneptunian Objects” to the IAU General Secretary. We now await their decision.

Just an update: We’re crossed the 200 mark for supporters of the Asteroids, Comets and Transneptunian Objects commission proposal. Thank you all for your enthusiastic support, and keep spreading the word to show how important this commission would be to the IAU.

We hope to see you all in Busan in 2021 at the IAU General Assembly, and especially hope that COVID-19 is well behind us by then.
